Greenhouse Progress
Our Greenhouse Project is Finally Underway!
We are very excited to share that our greenhouse project has officially begun. Here is a look at the progress so far.
Progress began on February 27, when JCA students and teachers planted over 150 seeds including several tomato and pepper varieties, eggplant, and herbs.

On April 12, a crew of volunteers dismantled 50 feet of greenhouse framing to transport to the school. A big thank you to Dr. Escalante for donating the greenhouse frame, and a big thank you to all the volunteers who worked to get the frame apart and transported to the school.

On April 21, Benjamin Meeks ("GardenGuy" on YouTube) installed the garden beds for the greenhouse — and he had a couple of student helpers too! 😊

We now have six 30-foot beds of rich compost with wood chip pathways in between. We also have a classroom and storage area that will be at the front of the greenhouse.
What's Coming Next
This week Benjamin Meeks will be back with another group of volunteers to reassemble the greenhouse frame at the school. Once the greenhouse is up, our students will transplant the tomatoes, peppers, and herbs they grew into the greenhouse beds. We also plan to add cucumbers, squash, green beans, and potatoes.
Check back soon for more updates!
